Get your message across

For how long do look people in the eye when you are talking to them? Is your handshake special? How does your body language work when you are speaking to an audience? Do you have the right tone of voice? At the sixth training module for cluster facilitators REG X had impactful communication on the agenda.

When it comes to evaluating a person’s credibility, the spoken word only counts for 7 %. Body language and tone of voice constitute a staggering 55 and 38 %, respectively.

At the REG X training module BRAND YOU!, which for two days highlighted personality, communication and personal branding, focus was mainly on body language.

In beautiful surroundings of the Helnan Marselis Hotel in Århus, theatre producer and trainer, Mia Hesselberg-Thomsen, used one of the days to guide the participants through a series of interactive exercises, games, dances, role plays and acting. Because credibility depends so much on your body language and tone of voice, creating intimacy and making the participants conscious of the roles they take on instinctively in various situations was in focus.

Furthermore, Mia Hesselberg-Thomsen gave the participants individual tools to obtain the right attitude and impact, and lastly, the participants received individual feedback to a presentation.

Another trainer was Tom Fisker Jørgensen from Insights Nordic. He is an expert in developing motivating programmes for groups from the participants’ personality types, and at the module he worked on improving the participants’ communication skills through an understanding of their own and others’ personal communication style.

Tom Fisker’s presentation was most entertaining and he described the different personality types vividly, whilst, through role plays, the participants had the opportunity to test the various tools for communicating with the different personality types. A profile analysis was made for each participant, to help figure out how to utilise the competencies. From the profile analysis the participants are able to continue to work with their strengths and weaknesses in order to become better cluster facilitators or leaders.

The BRAND YOU! module was a successful round-off of the first round of the REG X training programmes for cluster facilitators, and all participants went home filled with new energy and great tools for their everyday work.

At present, REG X is working on identifying the need and the possibilities for a new round of training programmes.
